With this blog post we share the story of Max Fox and his watch as told by his Grandson Andrew Fox.

Watches also have this important and necessary function, they allow us honor and keep the memory of our family members and of those who served.

“Max joined the British Royal Army Service Corps as a tank transporter driver. In November 1942 he was involved in Operation Torch as part of the 1st Army which initially consisted of British and American troops.

His watch is an American Waltham, and the movement says 1942 so I am unsure if as a british driver he would have been given a watch to mark time, or he won it in a game of cards!

From Algeria, it was on to Tunisia and then Malta to land in Sicily and on through Italy. He then travelled on and I know he went through Germany towards the end of the war.

Sadly, as a youngster I didn’t have the presence of mind to ask him about his time in the Army during WW2".
